We're Just Passing Through to Get to The Other Side — Jesus = Jesus!

Attending memorials and funerals really bring to light the REAL basis of our lives. It causes a surreal thought — we’re not going to always be here on Earth. On Saturday, January 11, I attended a memorial for a Pastor friend. He asked me to play. In his message he talked about a cousin of his had told him that her son asked where do people go after they die. He covered various explanations that people have given.

Some believe it to be eternal nothingness which is associated with religious skepticism and atheist. Jehovah Witnesses believe only 144,000 will go to heaven and the other people who obey God will live forever on a paradise earth. Scientologist believe the human body is regarded as similar to that of the of other religions; that at death, the spirit will leave the body but the life and the personality will go on.

It is a puzzling thought! The first law of man is self preservation so why or how could death come to get us?

The thought for the day is … THE WAY!! A few weeks ago I was speaking to my earthly Dad about something I realized during a reading in my devotion. “This entire life is about Jesus!” There’s no getting around it!

There are many who believe different things about different things but, at the end of it all, we will one day meet Jesus face to face. This is hard to believe for some of you out there because of your belief system. I understand. I decided to believe in the Holy Bible as the Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth book; hearing a story about a man who walked the earth for a little over 3 decades that would die on a cross shedding His blood for people. He started the whole thing (Him being the Word that became flesh) and He’s going to finish it all!

We’re Just Passing Through to Get to The Other Side — Jesus = Jesus!” is just that. John 1:1-5 (King James Version) “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. (2) The same was in the beginning with God. (3) All thing were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. (4) In him was life; and the life was the light of men. (5) And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended not.”

What is your thought about this concept? No matter your stance. I’d really love to hear your take on it.

Blog Fridays: The "Footprints" That Matter …

Who wouldn’t want someone that can walk a mile in our shoes? Meaning, they understand those most tender sacred moments we encounter! We’d all like someone who understands every intricate detail about us. We have it! We just have to realize it!! Jesus has been there to help us whether every storm — even when it was a “good” moment. I know the thought may be that “Why would I need Jesus in a “good” moment? ….

Since He is the Way, the Truth and the Life it is best that He is with us in every experience we will face. I want to give Him thanks, not just when it’s bad, but also when it’s really good. If it wasn’t for the bad how could I understand any good. Even He said “Why do you call me good? There’s none good but one (Luke 18:19).

This encouragement is to remind you to set your heart/mind/soul on Christ! He is there! Remember the FOOTPRINTS that MATTER …

Decisions! Decisions! Decisions — It’s Worth Repeating

Image result for there are choices even when someone takes your choice

I’ve addressed this before but I believe it needs another reflection. Can you take away a person’s right to choose? There’s a notion that someone can take away such a thing. If there is a rule it will, somehow, make the decision for us; however, this isn’t entirely true. How can you remove a person’s thought, regardless, of good or bad? You’d have to be God and, last time I checked, neither one of us are! He doesn’t take it away! He gave us this right because He wanted a relationship, but that’s another blog for another time.

While at the gym this morning, I was speaking with my Dad of how most people don’t realize a non-choice is a choice. Case in point to the above, when the judge renders a verdict (or jury) the accused can still decide to accept it or not. Seems rather strange to say considering if the verdict was life in prison, but the truth is the accused could break away from the guard(s), kill him or herself, bust out; just too many to count. They’ve made many movies where a person plotted some type of escape (choice).

Image result for there are choices even when someone takes your choice

The enlightenment of today’s blog is our choices are the root to everyday! God told me some years back that I made the decision for the life I have. I was stunned! It didn’t dawn on me that I kept choosing the life I’m living. Why? I have no clue. How could I not see that I kept making choices that kept placing me in certain predicaments? LOL. Kinda funny when you think about it. See yourself, you’re making choices that are leading you where you are. Those ups and downs are joined together formulating what our todays and tomorrows will be.

Take courage that no one can ever silence you! But take greater pride to try to better your choices through wisdom principles! — important notation … checking with God will help (smile)!!

The Invisible Seen

Image result for rainbow

What would it take for someone to believe that there is a God? Only ONE! Jehovah is just one of His names. It baffles me that we have so many things surrounding us that proves His existence and still fall short to believe. What causes such things? When you see the rainbow what is the first thing that come to mind? I assume you’ve heard the story of how it came to be. The story of Noah. A promise given to him by God that He wouldn’t destroy the earth again by water (but by fire next time). Just think, the bow of 7 colors (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo {purple}, violet) appears because water droplets break white sunlight into those reflected. Now admit, that is pretty cool.

It’s quite amazing that back in 1981 the first launch of the space shuttle occurred. Can you believe this allowed man to walk on the moon. But what’s more amazing than that is the shiny ball of fire burning constantly warming our planet, powers our weather and water cycle making it possible for plants to grow. And, yet, we cannot travel there. We capture pictures of its look but will never be able to come close to. Besides, its distance is closer to us than the stars.

Image result for grand canyon

The beauty of the Grand Canyon in Colorado. How in the world did this big “hole” in the earth form? This is hard to fathom but over 6 million years ago the eastern and western portions of the canyon connected allowing the river to flow all the way through; eventually, the water started carving through layers of volcanic rock and sediment making it 277 miles long. Purely awesome!

Image result for sahara desert

The Sahara Desert! There is something about this desert that fascinates me. Where in the world did all this sand come from, lol? It was created 7 million years ago as remnants of a vast sea called Tethys closed up. The movement of tectonic plates (a massive irregularly shaped slab of solid rock generally composed of continental and oceanic lithosphere {regions of earth’s crust and upper mantle that are fractured into plates}) created the Mediterranean Sea and the Alps which also sparked drying out what we, now, see as the Sahara Desert. All of this seems insane. But, once again, leaves a person in complete awe!

How can’t you or I not believe? Perhaps, ONCE AGAIN, taking a look in the mirror at yourself. He created Adam and Eve and all these years later … here we are. I can’t begin to fathom there being 6 million years ago when I only know a few; yet, my God must be eternal (though wrapping my mind around it remains difficult) because look at all to see!

Blog Fridays: “Proof in the Pudding”

Phenomenal happenings

Has anyone ever looked up when and whom had the first proverb? Some would, perhaps, suggest during the reign of King Solomon because of the book of Proverbs in the Bible, yet, I believe it goes even further back. Proverbs, supposedly, are wisdoms given down through our ancestors which would, technically, be Adam and Eve. A pause to say — it’s amazing of how we all came from the same two people. It was through the scattering of the languages that caused them to migrate to other places. These areas, amongst other factors, bringing the pigmentation to the colors of our skin. Fascinating within itself!

Since it’s understood that history is passed down King Solomon had the wisdom to understand that the Isralites belonged to God. In so doing he would request that God would endow him with wisdom to lead the people. Makes perfect sense. Today it is said of “old wives tales” that are, supposed, wisdoms. I’m not too sure about those. I’ve likely heard them before but when I hear some quote them I’m usually lost. LOL. I didn’t grow up in hearing them. My parents used stuff like “In all thy ways acknowledge Him (God), and He shall direct thy paths. ” Sayings such as these were the dominant. I touched on this before but it’s quite relevant and still funny today. My Dad’s wisdom, custom and demand in our household was: respect! “If you don’t you will see the light of day.” Meaning he’d likely take us out LMBO! Too funny. His belief is respect everything. Strong thing to believe, huh? Yet, so true. Life is surrounded in the dealings of others. One might suggest it is love and would be correct! How does love occur? Through respect. Though you treat your neighbor like they are less than gravel he/she turns around to respect (love) your humanity.

There’s always a reason for my “madness” (lol). This morning I was telling my Dad that I have desired to see more manifestation of God. He wound up telling me that God is not really interested in doing things He’s already done — meaning, He’s not gonna open up the Red Sea type stuff. There’s no need. Much has changed since those days of captivity. Just think, the weapons which men have created can blow up an entire country. There’s simply no need! He told me that God is interested in being a Father; take out time to be there in your life. Notice “In all your ways acknowledge Him.” What are the chances that I’d use that particular proverb? You know how when you’re writing you don’t, necessarily, know where you’re going to end up. You just write and it unfolds as you’re going. Now, admit it, that’s crazy cool!

Which brings me to the “Proof is in the Pudding.” The proverb means once you have tasted, experienced, tried, etc., the evidence is there. The longing for God’s face is the everyday I write and it opens; the singing of the birds; the rotation of an object on an axis which, as is understood, is merely floating. We’ve tried to explain the phenomenon of different things that we’ve witnessed but much can’t be explained. We hint at the idea of a god but do not give Jehovah God His due.

The next time you write think of how that idea opens up to you. Then take the time in wonder, and rather you believe or don’t believe UNDERSTAND and realize God that there’s …. “Proof in the Pudding!”

The Triangle Love Affair

Which way to turn…

My mind is sort of here and there in the reminisce of the past and what is today. It engages the circumstances of the relationships I faced over the past couple of years. (Chuckle) A slight exaggeration in the “couple” of years part. More like over 10! Dang, that’s a long time. That’s over a decade being in and out of relationships that I didn’t want to end but had no choice. I’m sure you, like me, wished some situations would have survived the brutal tide that not only crashed against the enormous mountain but knocked it into the abyss of the sea. It bothers me when people are so quick to jump to the conclusion “When you look back it was for the best.” That, truthfully, gets on my nerve. I’m not saying it bares no truth. I’m saying that folks should understand individuals NEED to SOBERLY assess these relationships. No, there’s likely not going to be a full awareness of why the other person made his or her decision, however, the assessment will bring you to a point of peace and maturity!

My first love! Boy, boy, boy … he was something else! I had never felt that way about anyone. It was more than butterflies in mere thought of him. It was heart racing in wishful “Oh God, I want to marry him,” type thing! We dated for several years, but he never would allow himself to be completely in the relationship. Just in case — this is when the individual is with you but has one foot in and out kinda thing. He eventually broke it off stating it was more than he could handle. I’m trying to sum it up as he just wasn’t ready to commit (marriage) but it was a little bit more than that. Yeah, I’m crazy! I used to apologize to him {time to time} because I was more involved than he was. The apology would come because I didn’t want to ever come across as though I was trying to pressure him and, I admit, my insecurities had been … ridiculous (lol)! No person can bear another’s insecurities. It is something every individual must work through on their own.

Seeing blindly

This same guy, a few years later, got married! I guess he found what he was looking for. It broke my heart but what could I do? Nothing. No, not true. I could, and I did, respect his decision. Since I lived through that situation I was able to share with a friend (who became like a little sister) the experience and what I learned. So, that’s it: what did I learn? ….

Several months ago I found some of the instant message conversations we had that I had printed out. IM or instant message was during AOL days so we’re talking many moons ago (lol). In one of those conversations he wound up saying: “Why would I settle when I can have somebody better?” Ouch! Enough said, right?! So, the lesson I learned is no matter what higher power (God) may try to advise us; no matter what we know to be true it will come down to that one decision and it will make or break us in the end. I’m still discovering who I am. The reminisce of today is — I am still discovering. The reveal always takes time! Sometimes it takes years upon years. I can’t be disgruntle (though I have been frustrated throughout the journey–lol) with the process. I must embrace my truth … I am becoming the best version of myself beyond what I will ever understand.

Thanksgiving is mind-blowing

Romans 8:26-28 AMP … “In the same way the Spirit [comes to us and] helps us in our weakness. We do not know what prayer to offer or how to offer it as we should, but the Spirit Himself [knows our need and at the right time] intercedes on our behalf with sighs and groanings too deep for words. And He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because the Spirit intercedes [before God] on behalf of God’s people in accordance with God’s will. And we know [with great confidence] that God [who is deeply concerned about us] causes all things to work together [as a plan] for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to His plan and purpose.

And though THAT one decided to go away … I can thank God He decided to stay!
